Mission Statement

Noraverse Academy for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NADH) is a private, ASL-first 6th-grade pilot program opening August 2026 in Broward County, Florida.

The transition from 5th to 6th grade is one of the most difficult academic and social shifts for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. At this stage, students are often moved into mainstream environments whether they are language-ready or not.

NADH exists to ensure students are not pushed before they are prepared.

Located under the same roof as the Noraverse Creative Studio, NADH provides:

  • Direct ASL instruction
  • Small cohort learning (4–6 students Year 1)
  • Individualized academic support
  • Integrated creative enrichment
  • Therapeutic support services

This pilot model establishes a strong foundation for long-term expansion into a full middle and high school program.

The story of Noraverse Academy for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NADH) began with a child named Aron. When Aron was ready to transition to middle school, his family faced an unsettling reality. The shift from 5th to 6th grade is a critical juncture where students are often pushed into mainstream environments regardless of their language readiness.

Looking at the landscape of Broward County, the options for Aron were limited to:

Full mainstreaming without the necessary direct communication support.

Academic settings where ASL was treated as a secondary accommodation, not a primary language.

Social environments where Deaf students are technically present but often isolated from peers.

Instruction that lacked the specialized visual scaffolding required for middle school subjects.

NADH was founded to bridge this gap. We believe that no student should be pushed into a transition before they are language-ready and academically prepared. By placing our academy within the Noraverse Creative Studio, we provide a theatrical sanctuary where language access and creative enrichment work together to build the foundation for long-term success.
